Chuck asks, why is the sky blue?

Tarzan responds:

The blue color in the sky is due to the refraction of light as it passes through the atmosphere. The larger particles in our atmosphere scatter the light waves that have a larger wave length. Blue and violet have the shortest wave length in the visible spectrum and are therefore relatively unaffected by the larger molecules in the air.

If you take a bowl of clear water, add a few drops of milk to it, put it in a dark room and shine a light into it you will get the same effect. The water will "glow" a pale blue.
